As a Journalist and analyzing the sudden increase of the Latin American population, we feel it is now time that the people of Utah recognize this group in our society. The Latino community of Utah has been misrepresented and ignored for many years by radio, creating a gap between American and Spanish Radio in this area. Therefore, our goal with the first Bilingual Radio in Salt Lake City is to encourage awareness and community involvement by creating an environment that empowers and respects all people and all cultures. Our main mission would, firstable, target both the English and Latin audiences by providing services and programming. We hope to be a great educational tool where both groups would be able to learn about each others culture, customs and language. Salt lake city is considered in a unique bilingual community where many Americans speak Spanish fluently due the educational role the Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter Day Saints plays in this area through their mision program around the world. Meanwhile we are in conversations with KRCL, Listeners Community Radio of Utah since 2009 so that our programming would be broadcast using one of their HD channels. We know that KRCL is a positive force in our society, and by supporing KRLC values, Bilingual Radio would bring communities together on a variety of issues, including those related to the Salt Lake City area. New studies done by the University of Utah shows that new Latino immigrants does not divide among themselves any longer , but rather they prefer to learn English first and to be part of the American Culture without loosing their identity. Therefore with the Latin America Community growing faster then ever all over the Wasatch Front new channels of communication would direct our path towards a brighter future.
